Benefits Of Cold Bathing

Updated: Dec 19, 2021

Cold Therapy Has Been Used In Medicine For Many Years Now For A Good Reason! Here I'm going to list some of the reasons why you should undergo cold therapy.

Many forms of cold therapy from cold ice baths as:

Convection Therapy: occurs indirectly when water or air moves across the body in currents that create a temperature variation.

Cold Ice Pack is Conduction Therapy: energy is exchanged by direct contact between areas of different temperature.

Since thermal energy is exchanged through water in ice baths this form of therapy gives a greater heat exchange than any Conduction therapy. Therefore I recommend individuals undergo full body cold water submersion!

Try Breathing deeply to enhance the adrenaline response to cold water

Cold Shock will increase norepinephrine (adrenaline) coming from the brain giving us mood changes!

Cold shock consistently may help with our Cellular physiology by affecting the growth of new mitochondria which will help with energy production in the cell! This is by the production of heat to warm us up when cold, example as the shivering response.

Fat Loss may be enhanced through mitochondrial activation when exposed to the cold via norepinephrine (adrenaline) neuroendocrine effects systemically.

Immune System Enhancement through similar effects with norepinephrine (adrenaline)

Decrease systemic Inflammation through blood vessel alterations.
